Public Info
Allan Parachini was fired from the LA County Superior Court for allegedly leaking information to celebrity gossip website TMZ.com. Had this been true, I would agree that termination would have been lawful and the right thing to do. However, when you dig deeper, you find out that Parachini was really terminated because he released public information when the powers that be did not want to release it. To me, this is just wrong. Public information is public information. Regardless if your boss wants you to drag out the process for releasing the info, you have a duty to your city and state to release the info when it is requested and not to delay for political reasons. http://http//www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-allan-parachini-20101119,0,5754548.story

Tom Brokaw-- Not convinced Facebook and Twitter is the answer
In a recent interview, Tom Brokaw talked about his growing interest in social media, but still was very tentative about creating a facebook account. He was worried that he would become "unnerved" by keeping up with granddaughters and reading things that weren't meant for him.
Moreover, Brokaw does not have a twitter account, even though there is a twitter account @TomBrokaw.
This is all very interesting. Brokaw admits that the industry is changing and although he is retired, he is still helping out in NBC specials. If he is going to continue to be part of the changing media, he is going to have to take one for the team and create a facebook and twitter.

Katy Perry's provocative video will Not Appear on Sesame Street
Let me break this down for you, my dear reader(s). Katy Perry, pop star, shot a video with Elmo, parodying a popular song of hers. The lyrics were innocent enough and the music video was cute; however, there was a public outcry by parents because of Perry's short dress and cleavage.
In a society that hyper-sexualizes EVERYTHING, this issue is just funny to me. It's not like Perry is flashing a 5 year old kid. Do you think the kid will even notice her cleavage? Doubtful. You could find dirtier content on billboards driving down the street. In other countries they have nudes on page three of the newspaper. I don't know... I guess American's are just super hypocritical

ethical question of the week
Im thinking about writing an article about the recent laws that have come into place regarding Medical Marijuana Dispensaries. Is that article something the Foghorn should publish?

Ethical Problem of the week
Was it ethical for the ump to issue warnings to both benches during the World Series when Alex Rodriguez got hit? I think that it was kind of obnoxious. Who wouldn't want to hit A-Rod, the steroid man? But I digress

random ethical thoughts
is it ethical to steal to work to feed your family?
I'd say yes- family > work

Robertson misspelled my last name in an e-mail
Should he sent out a correction e-mail to everyone or is it one of those things no one really cares about? You would never send out a group e-mail to people and copy your source and spell there name wrong, but this setting is more personal so other rules apply. However, this is the 3rd semester in a row I've have with Robertson and you'd think he'd know it by now! :P
